Crimson Fortress Under Attack!

We were attacked by either a great blue heron or a giant crane today (the big bluish-gray thing below and right of statue). If you've even been to the Fortress, you know that I keep Shubunkin goldfish in an outdoor pond. Well I don't keep so many now. Casualties so far include Big Red, my oldest and largest fish and matriarch of the group. I put a piece of woven-wire fence over the pond that will hopefully keep the heron out of it.

In other news, the squirrels started tearing the ass out of the Fall gourds on the front porch (but we're OK with that).
